![]() I couldn’t believe all the compliments I received wearing it. Try it on top of all types of colours, from subtle to attention grabbers, the possibilities are endless. The true beauty of this effect is that it allows you to get creative. You could always add a coat of clear finish polish for shine. I personally, would have preferred a glossy finish, but that’s just my taste. Matte Finish Don’t expect a shiny or glossy finish, because this bad boy dries matte. You can double it up for a darker shatter, but I would personally suggest one coat. One Coat is Enough Anymore than that and the effect gets lost. Avoid double application on the same spot, it can get clumpy. You really only get one shot to coat your entire nail with it before it dries almost instantly “ so make it quick. Since your base shade is bright it will really pop and shine through each crack.ĭries Ultra Fast Keep in mind that this nail polish dries super fast. Once the colour is completely dry add Black Shatter. Opt for light greys, neon shades (super hot for 2011) or bright pinks and greens. The Brighter the Better The brighter or lighter your base shade, the better the effect will look. And note it’s selling out FAST! Word on the street is that there’s waiting lists for it. It’s a black top coat that crackles and ‘shrinks up’ as it dries on your nails so it gives a crackled effect. What it is: Black Shatter is a part of O.P.I’s special Katy Perry and Serena Williams collections. I’ve tried many colours, formulas and patterns on my nails, but have never tried a shatter look. ![]() At-home manis have become a little hobby of mine “ changing the colour of my nails at least 3 times a week is the norm in my beauty regimen “ (really). Cajun fries for the win! According to many, these OPI Shatters can be used with normal polish thinners (unlike the old Cover Girl ones from the 90s). The formula was fine, but I did notice that it was significantly thicker the second time I used it. I tried it with a brighter bottom color and liked it a little better, so perhaps different combinations would work better with the shimmer (I'll show that combo soon). I dunno, while it's cool in theory, I think I'd stick to the normal crackle types. I think the shimmer just takes away from the underlying polish too much (perhaps from the light refraction). While the concept is cool, the finished product could be a bit better. To shake things up, they decided to add a shimmer/foil finish instead of the (mostly) matte creme finishes that have come out recently. ![]() OPI just released the Silver Shatter (aka crackle polish) with the Pirates of the Caribbean collection. Some are saying they are sick of them, but the companies are still pumping them out faster than a cupcake can last in my apartment. As most of you know, crackle polishes are all the rage right now.
